Community Service
Students engaging in community service serve as ambassadors of the Leicester Public Schools. Giving back to one’s community is a core value of Leicester High School. While students complete this service outside of the school day, we ask that their behavior reflect what is best about Leicester High School:
- Arrive on time
- Be respectful and considerate
- Exhibit sound judgment
- Refrain from profanity and obscene language
- Refrain from using tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs
- Support a positive public view of the school district and its students
Community Service Rules/Guidelines
All students at Leicester High School must perform at least 40 hours of community service during their high school career (with exceptions for the Classes of 2023 & 2024 - see Required Hours below). Students may begin accruing hours beginning the summer before ninth grade. It is recommended that students perform 10 hours per year. However, students must have 30 hours completed to attend the Junior Prom, and 40 hours are required to attend the Senior Dinner Dance.
- Each student must complete an online form to have their hours counted. If community service is pre-approved, students can avoid the hours being declared invalid. Prior approval may be given by: Administration, Teachers, and Guidance.
-
Working for your family or friends is not considered community service (this includes babysitting).
- Students may not earn community service hours during the school day.
- All Seniors must complete their Community Service hours by the end of Senior Final Exams.
- Students who transfer to LHS will be required to complete 5 hours per complete semester of enrollment.
